The OSOYOO 5" DSI touch screen connects to your Raspberry Pi through the DSI port. One cable carries both the picture and the touch signal, so it uses no GPIO pins, no HDMI port and no USB port — all 40 GPIO pins stay free for your own DIY projects. It is plug and play: no driver needs to be installed.

Two panel options: TN or IPS

Both panels share the same 800 × 480 resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, 5-point capacitive touch and driver-free setup. The difference is the panel:

• IPS panel: wide 85° viewing angle on all four sides (85/85/85/85). Colours and images stay consistent even when viewed from different angles — the better choice if you share the screen with others or work on graphics.
• TN panel: 60° viewing angle on all four sides (60/60/60/60), generally faster response time, and the lower-priced option — a good choice for fast-paced interaction and value.

Why DSI?

• One cable does it all: display signal and capacitive touch travel over the single DSI ribbon cable.
• No GPIO occupied: unlike SPI screens, it does not use the SPI bus or any GPIO pins.
• No HDMI needed: the same clarity as an HDMI screen, without taking the HDMI port and without any HDMI licence cost.
• Driver-free: connect the cable, power on, and the screen just works.

Please note

• The DSI port of the OSOYOO 5" DSI screen is different from the official Raspberry Pi 7" DSI screen, and its cable is different from the official cable. Please use the included cable and check the metal connector orientation on both sides.
• On Raspberry Pi 5, please use Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm.
• Adjusting the virtual resolution and the display rotation works on Raspberry Pi Legacy OS; on Bookworm the virtual resolution cannot be adjusted.
• Brightness can be adjusted in the system (rpi_backlight / brightnessctl), and an on-screen virtual keyboard can be added (matchbox-keyboard) if you want to type without a USB keyboard.
