I almost passed this kit by, since I figured at such an affordable price, it must require pairing with some fancier hardware I don't own. It sounded so cool, though, that I went back and read the description again. In fact, this kit includes all the essentials you need to start learning the strange and wonderful skill of sewing and programming your stitched circuits!

The instructions are impressively thorough, as befits the audience of the kit, but the projects still leave plenty of room for individual creativity. Each project is a category (e.g., "light-up mask") rather than a super-specific design, so you can keep it simple, or embellish it with your own supplies and imagination.

While this "choose your own adventure" approach may not appeal to everyone, its flexibility makes the kit usable and enjoyable by a wider variety of ages and sewing skill levels. And if you're not feeling creative, you can always just copy one of the examples pictured in the booklet.

This is a SUPER cool kit that will delight crafters and technophiles alike, and would make a terrific gift for the young (or not-so-young, but new to "e-sewing") maker in your life!

I have been wanting to make some costumes for Halloween and other holidays using el-wire and even fiber optics...but I'm in my 60s. I needed a way to learn like I was a kid just starting out and this kit is exactly what I needed! I followed the instructions and learned a great deal - the programming was fun, too. I remember years ago learning a simple language called Turtle and it took me back to my young years! This kit has given me ideas for a few original pieces that I can create using what I've learned with this kit. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!!

This is a great intro kit not just for wearable electronics, but electronics in general. The booklet is very thorough and doesn't take anything for granted. It describes how to sew, how to troubleshoot problems, and how the different parts work together. Another thing that I was very impressed with was that it came with enough parts that you don't have to cannibalize previous projects to make new ones, as it has enough to do almost all of the projects! The parts themselves are clearly labeled as to what they are and the polarity. It includes felt, thread, conductive thread and patterns for all of the projects. Everything included in this kit can be used for other projects as well, so you can use your imagination for even more projects!
